What is Pilates?

Pilates is a mental and physical discipline that uses spring-loaded resistance and body weight exercises to strengthen, lengthen, and tone the body. With an emphasis on core engagement, Pilates strengthens your body as a whole, creating proper alignment and improved posture. The reformer, a Pilates apparatus, provides an intense yet low impact workout, making it perfect for any and all bodies. By utilizing muscles that are often neglected, no single muscle group is ever overworked, preventing imbalances in your body that could cause injury.

Is Pilates for me?

Joseph Pilates created this dynamic system for “the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind, fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.” Whether those daily tasks include picking up your grandkids, running 5 miles, or simply making it through it through the day without back pain, Pilates has something to offer you. We want to help you train smarter not harder. 

Where are you located?

We are located at 1075 Baxter St. in Baxter Street Lofts. You can find us right next to Mama Jewels Kitchen. 

What should I wear?

Any athletic wear that you are comfortable in will work. However, for women, we do not recommend wearing shorts to class. Men, we highly recommend compression shorts under your athletic wear. 

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself and a water bottle. 

Do you have showers?

We do have one shower for when it is needed, however we ask that you are courteous to the instructor and other clients who may be waiting.

Can I just show up for a class or do I need to register beforehand?

We ask that you please sign up for classes in the MINDBODY app or through our website. If it is less than 1 hour before class start time, you will not be able to sign up online. You are still welcome in class, but please give the studio a call before dropping in, to ensure that class is not full or hasn’t been cancelled. 

Should I take a private session before I try a class?

If you are new to Pilates, have any injuries, or just want to feel more confident before entering a class, we highly recommend starting with a few privates to get your bearings. In a private setting, the instructor can assess your personal needs, and you can create a good base of fundamentals to build upon and ensure you get the most benefit out of your classes. 





Class Policy

  • Please sign up for class in advance on MINDBODY. We do not accept walk ins. If you have trouble with the app, please give us a call before showing up to ensure that class is not full or has not been canceled. 

  • Group classes may be canceled if only 1 person has enrolled 1 hour prior to start time. 

  • Instructors and class types are subject to change without notice, so check the class schedule for updates. 

  • We recommend arriving at least 5 minutes before class, but no earlier than 10-15 minutes before. We keep the door locked during classes or when we are with private clients for safety, so if you arrive too early, the door may still be locked. If you arrive and the door is locked, please wait patiently outside and someone will be with you shortly. Once inside, please be quiet and courteous if there is a private session or class going on. 

  • We understand that things happen, but if you are running a few minutes behind, please call the studio so we can let the instructor know. If you do not let us know you are running late, we may lock the door. 

  • There will be no admittance to class after 10 minutes.

  • Please silence your cell phones

  • Notify your instructor of any medical considerations before class, including but not limited to past and present injuries, pregnancy, or anything that might require exercise modifications. 


Cancellation & No Show Policy

  • You are free to cancel through MINDBODY up until 4 hours prior to the class start time. After that, you will be considered a late cancel, and that class will be deducted from your package. We do ask that you do all of your canceling through the MINDBODY app. However, we know that things happen, and if something unexpected comes up, please give us a courteous call or text us to let us know you can’t make it.

  • Members have 2 free late cancels per month. Any other late cancels will be treated as such, and that class will be deducted from your account.

  • If you no show - your class will be deducted and you will be charged a $15 no show fee.


Age Policy 

  • Students under the age of 17 must attend one Private session to receive instructor approval prior to joining group classes. Upon receiving instructor approval, and once a parent or guardian has signed our waiver, students may attend class.


Prenatal Policy 

  • All pregnant students must take a private session to get instructor approval before taking classes in their second trimester. After approval, students can take any Balance or Build class.

  • Once in third trimester of pregnancy, all students will be limited to Private sessions only.
